Leo A. Wentline Sr., 87, Dunmore, died Friday in Regional Hospital of Scranton on the day he and his beloved wife the former Jennie Mandarano would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary.

Born in Scranton he was the son of the late John and Eva Edwardowski Wentline.

He was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and served in the U.S. Army as a Tech 5, during WWII in Korea and the Pacific Theatre of Operations. He was a devoted member of S.S. Anthony and Rocco Parish, Dunmore, a member and trustee of its Holy Name Society and served as a Eucharistic Minister and Altar server.

Prior to retirement he was employed by Fitchburg Coated Products Inc., Moosic and also by the Scranton Times.

Leo was a life member of the McHugh-Bushweller Post #3474 V.F.W., Dunmore, a life member of the Northeastern Detachment Marine Corps League, Scranton having proudly served with its Honor Guard, and was a member of the Italian-American War Veterans.

Leo was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who enjoyed his family gardening, canning tomatoes, making wine and wood working. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Also surviving are a daughter, Paulette Caputo and husband, Joseph, Roaring Brook Twp., three sons, Leo A. Jr. and wife Anne, Dunmore, John and wife, Phyllis, Las Vegas, Nevada and Joseph and finance’, Maria Jenkins, Dunmore. Six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren a sister, Henrietta Baldery, Carbondale, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan Wentline and two brothers, John and Carl.

The funeral will be Tuesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 East Drinker St., Dunmore with mass of Christian burial at 9:30 A.M. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St. Dunmore.

Interment with military honors will be in St. Michaels Cemetery, Dunmore.

Family and friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to S.S. Anthony and Rocco Parish, 303 Smith St., Dunmore, 18512 or to the Northeastern Detachment Marine Corps League, P.O.Box 1775, Scranton, 18503.
