Joseph Stanley Vidota Jr., 78, Dunmore, died early Thursday morning in the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center in Scranton. His wife the former Carolyn Shoemaker died March 9, 2014.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Joseph Stanley and Alice Boris Vidota, Sr. He attended Dunmore Public Schools, was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish in Dunmore and had served in the United States Air Force. Prior to retirement Joe was employed at the Tobyhanna Army Depot. He was a member of the McHugh-Bushweller Post #3474 in Dunmore and the former American Legion Victory Post #13 in Dunmore.
Surviving are a son Joseph Stanley Vidota III, Bradenton, FL, a daughter Dorothy (Vidota) Chow and her husband Alex, Summit, NJ, six grandchildren, Karissa, Lauren, Duncan, Malcolm, Alex Joseph, and Camille, and two great grandchildren, Logan and Grace Carolyn, a sister, Dorothy Pikulski and her husband Ken, Clarks Summit, two brothers, John Vidota and Edward Vidota and his wife Sandy, all of Scranton, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister Wanda Zator.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc. 318 East Drinker Street in Dunmore with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Anthony of Padua Church on Smith Street in Dunmore. Interment will take place in the Scared Hearts of Jesus and Mary Cemetery in Minooka.
