Joseph Portanova, 92, of Dunmore, died Friday morning at VNA
Hospice at Geisinger-CMC, Scranton. His wife, Santa “Sadie” Portanova died
September 21, 1997.

Born in Dunmore, he was the son of the late Dominick and Angelina
DePaulo Portanova. He attended the Dunmore Public Schools and prior to
retirement  was employed by General
Motors as an auto worker. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and
served during World War II and was a member of SS Anthony and Rocco Parish,

He was a devoted catholic and an avid sports fan. He
especially enjoyed the New York Yankees and horse racing. He enjoyed spending
time with his family and friends and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Surviving are sons; Dominic Portanova and wife Cheryl, Mechanicsburg
and Frank Portanova, Dunmore; Grandchildren; Tracey Milonopoulos and husband
Mike, Dominic(DJ) Portanova and wife April and 
Stephanie and John Portanova. Great-grandchildren; Devan and Hailey. A
sister; Antoinette Fox and sister-in-law, Lottie Montaro, both of Dunmore.
Nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by twin sisters; Fuerita and
Phyllis Portanova, Margaret Micciche and Grace DeMola.

The  funeral will be
Monday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis 
Funeral Home, 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore with Mass at 11:00am at St.
Rocco’s Church, Luke and Kurtz St. in the Bunker Hill section of Dunmore.

Interment, St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow

Friends may call Sunday from 3-6pm

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to SS
Anthony and Rocco Parish, 303 Smith St., Dunmore, Pa 18512.
