Joseph “Pat” Ehnot, 94, of Dunmore, passed away Wednesday morning at Geisinger Mountain View Care Center, Scranton. His wife, the late Joan Battista Ehnot passed away in 2009. The couple had been married for 62 years.

Born in Dunmore, he was the son of the late George and Mary Ehnot and was a graduate of Dunmore High School and attended the former St. Thomas University, Scranton. Prior to retirement he was employed by PP&L for 42 years and 11 years with Clinical Labs.

Joe, a proud Veteran, served in the United States Army from 1943-1946. He was very active in community organizations, such as the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Greek Catholic Union, VFW, the former Eclipse Hose Company, Dunmore Little League and the Firemen Relief. He was an avid Dunmore Bucks fan and a member of St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Church, Dunmore.

Joe always put his family above all and will be sadly missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Geisinger Mountain View for the outstanding care and compassion to our Dad.

Surviving are his children, Joseph and wife Katherine, Arlington, Texas; Mary Ann McHale and husband Tom, Duryea; Deborah Monteforte and husband Lee, Jenkins Township; Thomas and wife Jeannie, Dunmore; and John and wife Maribeth, Dunmore.

Grandchildren, Michael McHale and wife Judy; Brian McHale and wife Jaime; Kevin McHale and wife Victoria; Jennifer and Sarah Ehnot; Justin Monteforte and wife Louise; Jaret Monteforte; Patrick Ehnot and wife Jessie; Thomas Ehnot and wife Sarah; Ryan, Michael, Casey, Kathleen, Katelyn and Bridget Ehnot; twelve great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Marie Novak and Carmela Ehnot; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by brothers, George, Charles, John, and Michael; and sisters, Veronica Swartz, Helen Burke, Julia Ehnot, Anna Hovanec and Mary Vavick; as well as a granddaughter, Kelly Ehnot.

The funeral will be Wednesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc. 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore with office of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, 511 E. Drinker St., Dunmore.

Interment, St. Michael’s Cemetery, Dunmore

Friends may call Tuesday 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Joseph’s name to the donor’s favorite charity.

Dear Ehnot family: Sorry to hear of the passing of Joe. Joe was a gentleman & I always enjoyed talking with him. He surely will be missed by many people. Our thoughts & prayers are with you all at this somber time. Eternal memory!
