It is with great sadness that the family of John Guzik, 63, of Moosic, announces his passing on Sunday, Aug. 19, after a battle with cancer. He is survived by his beloved wife, the former Catherine Faller.
Born in Avoca, he was the son of the late Stanley Guzik and Julie (Maszeroski) Guzik.
He was a graduate of Pittston Area High School class of 1973. He had recently retired from Hydro Extrusions in Mountain Top. John enjoyed gardening, carpentry projects and working on cars. He especially loved spending time with his furry friends, Piper, Finn, Rory, Loki and Elroy.
Also surviving are his cherished children, Colette (Guzik) Sharpley and husband, Matt Sharpley, Old Forge; Brent Guzik, Moosic; and Marcy Guzik, Philadelphia; his granddaughter, Phaedra Sharpley, whom he adored; his loving sisters, Dorothy Rutkowski, Duryea; Phyllis Hapersberger and husband, Jack Hapersberger, Avoca; Theresa Zabielski and husband, Charles Zabielski, Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J.; Judy Insogna and husband, Albert Insogna, Avoca; and Eileen Martin and husband, George Martin, Avoca; mother-in-law, Florence Faller, Moscow; brother-in-law, Francis McCloskey, Pahrump, Nev.; sister-in-law, Sally Guzik, Duryea; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by siblings, Shirley Hapersberger and husband, Paul Hapersberger; Mary McCloskey and Stanley Guzik.
In honoring John's wishes, there will be no public viewing. A private memorial will be held for family members.
