Jennie K. DeNunzio, 89, of Dunmore died Monday morning in the Regional Hospital of Scranton. She is survived by her husband, Albert Sr. The couple would have celebrated 67 years of marriage on April 10.


Born in Dunmore, daughter of the late Sabastiano and Catherine Sileo Mecca, she was a 1943 graduate of Dunmore High School and a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish, Dunmore.She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed cooking and feeding her family. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and keeping up with current events. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed by all who knew her.


Also surviving are a daughter, Janet DeNunzio and husband, Michael Joslyn, New York City; sons, David and wife, Christine, Boca Raton, Fla.; Albert Jr. and wife, Peggy, Dunmore; and William and wife, Patty, Mountaintop; grandchildren, Jessica Siegfried and husband, Jason; and Ben DeNunzio and wife, Kristyn; great-grandchildren, Rylan and Keeley; sisters, Lucy Ranella and Carmella Ciccone; brothers, Salvatore Mecca and wife, Marilyn; Peter Mecca and wife, Joan; and William Mecca and wife, Elizabeth; several nieces, nephews and cousins.


She was also preceded in death by sisters, Ann DiBiasi and Bernetta Lalli; and brothers, Thomas and Joseph Mecca.


The funeral will be Friday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith Street, Dunmore.


Interment, Dunmore Cemetery.Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Friends of the Poor, 2300 Adams Ave., Scranton, PA 18509.

I will always remember her as a kind, loving,and gentle Auntand person. She will be greatly missed.
