Jeanette Mittelman, Delray Beach, FL and formerly of Scranton, died Wednesday night in the Hospice of Palm Beach County in Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Maurice “Hyder” Mittelman who died in 1978.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Morris and Caroline Hart Myers, she was a member of Beth Shalom Congregation in Scranton and a life member of its sisterhood, in addition to being a life member of Anshei Emuna Congregation in Florida and its sisterhood. Throughout her life, she was active in numerous religious and civic organizations, becoming a life member of Hadassah and AMIT, and also serving as a member of the Jewish Home Auxiliary.
Surviving are sons Barry, Delray Beach, FL; and Neil and wife Susan, Huntingdon Valley, PA; grandchildren Michael and wife Jennifer; and Matthew and wife Ayelet; great-grandchildren Talia, Evan and Ariela. She was preceded in death by brothers Jerome “Jerry” and Isadore “Ozzie” Myers; and sisters Sylvia Kornfeld, Ruth M. Herman and Henrietta Harowitz.
Graveside services will be held Sunday at 11:30 a.m. in the Dalton Jewish Cemetery by Rabbi Yisroel Brotsky, Rabbi Dovid Saks and Rabbi Jack Engel. There will be no local shiva.
