Eliseo “Jake” Garbolino, 88, died Friday evening in Allied Services Skilled Nursing in Scranton. He and his wife the former Theresa Hoizan had celebrated 63 years of marriage on August 7th 2017.

Born in Dunmore and raised in Northern Italy until the age of 18, he was the son of the late Pietro and Margharita Perino-Duca Garbolino. Jake attended schools in Italy as a child and was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish in Dunmore. He was a member of the Moscow Sportsmen Club, The San Cataldo Club in Dunmore, and was a member of the Elk Mountain Ski Patrol for 38 years. His enjoyments included skiing and hunting as he was an avid outdoorsman and was a fan of the New York Yankees.

Jake will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, & Pop Pop who truly enjoyed spending times with family and friends. He was involved in the community and local politics of Dunmore and never hesitated to express his views. He was a patriotic man who valued his freedoms in this country after experiencing war torn Italy during WWII.

Also surviving are two daughters, Marguerite Bradley, Dunmore and Maria Wilhelm and her husband Eric, Jamison, PA, four grandchildren, Jake Bradley, Dunmore, John Bradley, Philadelphia, and Nina and Josh Wilhelm both of Jamison, PA, three sisters in law, Julia Yurgosky, Margaret Morelli, and Emma Yurgosky, two brothers in law, Ugo Garbolino and John Hoizan as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Nina Garbolino and a brother Ettore Garbolino.

The funeral will be Wednesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc. 318 East Drinker Street in Dunmore with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30AM in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith Street in Dunmore. Inurnment will take place in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Dunmore at the family’s convenience.

Friends may call Tuesday from 3PM-6PM.

In lieu of flowers preferred memorial contributions may be made to the Moscow Sportsmen Club, PO Box 656 Union Mill Road Moscow, PA 18444

Mrs. Garbolino, Marguerite, & Maria..sorry I cannot attend today. Please accept my sympathies...Jake was a great family man & a man's man. He brought a bit of the Italian Alps to Elk Mountain, as only he could. Best Regards.
