Harold Dumoff, 94, of Easton PA, formerly of Scranton, passed away Tuesday evening at Lehigh Valley Hospital Muhlenburg. His wife was the former Lila Halpern who died in 1977.
He was born in 1923 in Duryea PA to the late Samuel and Mary Leiberman Dumoff. He served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946 and fought in WWII. He earned his Bachelor of Physics degree from the University of Scranton and was employed at Trane Corporation as a Quality Control Manager. He was of the Jewish faith and a member of Penn Monroe Synagogue.
Harold was a dedicated family man; taking care of his family was his first priority. He was an avid bowler and photographer. He also enjoyed classical music concerts, attending theater productions, taking walks, and enjoying dinner out.
He is survived by a son Gerry Dumoff and his wife Bobbie, Bethlehem, two daughters, Melissa Mekler and her husband Steve, Hillsborough, NJ and Marabeth Kime and her husband Thomas, Des Plaines IL, six grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Harold was preceded in death by brothers Nathan Dumoff and Morris Dumoff, and a sister Jean Simon.
A graveside funeral service will be held Friday at 11AM in the Dalton Jewish Cemetery by Rabbi Moshe Saks.
Shiva will be observed Friday from 4PM-6PM at the home of his son Gerry, 4305 Vassar Ave. Bethlehem, PA 18017 and on Sunday at the home of his daughter Melissa, 60 Vliet Drive Hillsborough, NJ from the hours of 1PM-4PM and 6PM – 8PM.
