Grace L. Spalleta, 92, of Dunmore, passed away Sunday morning at home. Her husband, the late Prosper Spalletta died November 10, 1983. They were married for 36 years.

Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Rosario and Concetta Occhippinti Cordaro and was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish, Dunmore. She was a graduate of Dunmore High School and prior to retirement she worked in the local garment industry and had her own sewing business. She volunteered at St. Francis of Assisi Kitchen for 30 years and was a member of the Dunmore Senior Citizens Center. She was an avid New York Yankees and Pittsburgh Steeler fan and enjoyed reading, doing Word Finds and making her Italian pepper cookies, pizzeles, biscotti and anise loaves. She loved spending time with her grandsons and great-grandchildren.


The family would like to thank Marlene Warfel, her aide and the many nurses and therapist that cared for her.

Surviving is a daughter, Connie Mychayliw and husband William, Dunmore; grandsons William and fiancée Amy Woehrle and Mark and wife Melissa, all of Lake Ariel; great-grandchildren; Shelby, Madison, Matthew and Mason Mychayliw and Jacob Schomburg; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers Sammy, Mike, James, Angelo, John, and Phillip; and sisters Josephine Cosentino, Millie Calabrese, Lucy Naro and Carmella Arnone.


The funeral will be Wednesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with
Mass at 9:30am in St. Anthony’s Church, Smith St., Dunmore.

Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton

I'm saddened at the loss of Aunt Gracie, she lived a long life and will be missed by many prayers and thoughts are with Connie, Billy and family, she is now with all her brothers and sisters and i hope when she gets to heaven she says to my grandmother her sister "Josephine Cosentino" that all these years she has been missed very much ....R.I.P Aunt Gracie, you are now with God and the angels .
