Frederick F. Franceschelli,60, Archbald, died Tuesday at home. He and his wife the former Gale Sowden had celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary on March 18th.
Born in Scranton and raised in Dunmore, Fred was the son of Evangeline LaBree Franceschelli of Dunmore and the late John A. Franceschelli, Jr. who died in 2012. He was a graduate of Dunmore High School Class of 1974 and then entered the U.S. Army after graduation. He served honorably during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home he attended the University of Scranton where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. He was employed at Gentex Corporation for many years and prior to that was employed at Tobyhanna Army Depot.
Fred was a member of the Knights of Columbus having achieved the status of Fourth Degree. He was an Eagle Scout from Troop 99 at All Saints Church in Dunmore and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Dunmore Chapter 23 Forget Me Not. He was a Volunteer Firefighter and Past President of the Meredith Hose Co. in Childs. Fred and his wife Gale have fostered 72 children over the years.
Also surviving are two daughters, Amanda Price and her husband Paul, Carbondale, and Megan McMullen, Archbald, four sons, Sean McMullen, Archbald, Christopher DeCresenza, Tunkhannock, Freddie Franceschelli, Archbald, and Braydon Franceschelli, whom was more of a son than a grandson to Fred, a brother John Franceschelli III and his wife Karen, Farmington, MN, three uncles, Col. Ivan LaBree, Agusta, ME, Albert Nozzi, Penfield, NY, and Robert Repass, Summerville, SC and three aunts, Freda Avery, Union City, GA, Verna Repass, Summerville, SC, and Dorothy Franceschelli, Madison Township, six grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc. 318 East Drinker in Dunmore with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30AM in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith Street in Dunmore. Interment will take place in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Dunmore.
