Florence A. Tobin, 89, of Dunmore, died Saturday at Green Ridge Care Center. She was the widow of James J. Tobin, who died in 2009.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Michael and Cecelia Molnar Kovach, she was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Dunmore. Before retirement, she was employed by Hess's Department Store.

Florence was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose greatest joys were spending time with her family at their Lake Sheridan cottage and family vacations. She loved being with her grandchildren, dining out and was a devoted fan of chocolate ice cream.

Her family would like to thank Dr. Nicholas Dodge and the staff at Green Ridge Care Center for all their dedicated and loving care.

Surviving are a daughter, Kathleen Ross; and sons, James M. Tobin; and William Tobin and wife, Lisa, all of Dunmore; four grandchildren, Jennafer Vande Vegte and husband, Richard; William Ross and wife, Rose; and Travis and Kayla Tobin; and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be Wednesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut Street, Dunmore. Interment, Holy Family Cemetery, Throop.

Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Jim, Bill and family please accept our condolences on the loss of your Mom. She was a great lady who lived a full life. She will be greatly missed.

Kathy, I'm so sorry to hear about your mom's passing. No matter how long you can see it coming, it's still just as hard to see them go. You can rest assured, though, that no children could have been more devoted and caring than you and your brothers. She had a wonderful, wonderful life and family. May a million happy memories of your mother bring you all peace and comfort.
