Eleanor Ann Gianzanti, 84, of Dunmore, died Sunday evening
in Allied Skilled Nursing Center, Scranton. She is survived by her husband,
Michael J. Gianzanti. The couple celebrated 57 years of marriage on May 4th.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Anthony
and Mary Analavich Shumbres and was a graduate of Scranton Technical High
School. She was a member of SSAnthony and Rocco Parish, Dunmore and prior to
retirement she was employed by Dempsey Uniform and Linen Supply Company,
Manhattan Shirt and Lincoln Laundry.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt who
enjoyed doing jig saw puzzles, reading, gardening, crocheting and writing. She
especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and before she was
stricken ill she volunteered for the Friends of the Scranton Public Library.
She was grateful to have lived 19 years with a liver transplant. The family
would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nursing staff at Allied
Skilled Nursing Center especially Judy and Tammy.
Also surviving are daughters; Pamela Doran and husband
Brian, Aspers, Marie Scannella and husband Samuel, Harrisburg, Michele Polasky
and husband Joseph, Old Forge. Grandchildren; Angelia, Michael and Gabriella Polasky,
Matthew, Amanda and Abigail Doran and Melissa and Justin Scannella. A great-
grandson, Brayden Michael Polasky.
Several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Christopher and
brothers; John, Frank and Anthony Shumbres and sisters; Genevieve Ubaldini, Ann
Doughtie, a twin sister, Victoria Shumbres, Gertrude Waitulavich, Judith Laytos
and Margaret and Helen Shumbres.
The funeral will be Thursday from the
Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc. 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore with
Mass at 9:30am in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St., Dunmore.
Interment, Dunmore Cemetery
Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8pm
