Ruth Stahler Davis, Scranton, died Saturday in Moses Taylor Hospital. She was the wife of Daniel R. Davis, a local educator who died in, 2000.
Born in Scranton she was a daughter of the late Harry and Carrie Stahler Stahler.
She was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and the Flora Stone Mather College of Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio.
Except for her college years in Cleveland, Ohio and a short period in Towson, Maryland during WWII she resided in the City of Scranton.
Prior to retirement Ruth was employed as a case manager for the Pennsylvania Dept. of Public Assistance.
The family wishes to thank Dr. John Diakiw , Dr. J. Bruce Ruppenthal, the staff of Physicians Health Alliance, the staff and administration of the Jewish Home of Eastern Pa with special recognition of the employees of the fourth floor for all their kindness and professionalism.
Surviving are a son, Gary, Scranton, with whom she resided, two daughters Bonnie, California and Charlotte, Arizona and numerous grand and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Hannah Wachs.
A graveside funeral service will be held today at 11:00A.M. in the Dalton Jewish Cemetery, by Rabbi’s Yisroel Brotsky and Dovid Saks.
Visiting hours during shiva which will be observed at the Jewish Home, 1101 Vine St, will be today from 2-4 P.M., Monday noon to 4:00 P.M. and Tuesday from 11:00A.M to 2:00P.M.
Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
