Joseph R. Trubia, M.D., 60, of Gallatin, TN and formerly of Dunmore, died Sunday, February 22nd at home.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Joseph G. and Ann Elizabeth “Betty” McKenna Trubia, he was a graduate of the former Dunmore Central Catholic High School class of 1972 and went on to the University of Scranton, where he was known for being hard-working and motivated, always wanting to become a physician. He later graduated from the Temple University School of Medicine in 1980, subsequently completing his internship at Abington Memorial Hospital and his residency in orthopedic surgery at Temple University Hospital. He remained in the Philadelphia area for many years where he was part of an orthopedic practice associated with Frankford and Jeanes Hospitals. In 2003, he moved his practice to Tennessee, where he had currently been employed with Mid South Orthopedic Associates, an affiliate of Sumner Regional Medical Center, where he specialized in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. Joseph was a sports enthusiast, avidly enjoying fly fishing and golfing, and had been a member of Boy Scout Troop 66 in Dunmore, where he attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He also had a great interest in photography and traveling, but primarily loved spending time with his family and friends, and beloved dog, Max.
Surviving is his sister, Anne Faith and husband Christopher, nephew and godson Christopher Faith, and niece Emily Faith, all of Scranton; aunts and uncle Pauline McKenna, and Robert and Ann McKenna, all of Dunmore; and several cousins.
The funeral will be Thursday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with mass at 11 a.m. in the St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St., Dunmore. Interment in Dunmore Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m.
