In Loving Memory of Debra Ann Carr

Debra Ann Carr

Debra Ann Carr

Peckville, PA November 6, 1954 ~ August 16, 2017 Date of Service: August 21, 2017

Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017, the world lost a wondrous gleam of light. Debra Ann Carr passed away at home in Peckville, Pa., surrounded by her beloved family in a room filled with love. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Warren.

Debra was born on Nov. 6, 1954, on an Air Force Base in Geneva, N.Y., to Ann Sick Trapani and the late Sebastian J. Trapani. They soon moved to Dushore, Pa., where Debra would grow up in a town she loved, despite it only having one red light. The oldest of six children, motherly instincts were instilled in her from the beginning. She talked about her childhood with bright eyes and loved being part of a big boisterous family. She left that small town, only to find herself in the "singles" ski lift line, where she got paired one fateful day with a handsome man who would soon become her husband of 39 years on Aug. 26 of this year. She adored her husband, Warren and set a wonderful example of what a loving marriage looks like to her children. She soon began what we all know was her calling in life, motherhood. Being a mother was by far her greatest joy and accomplishment. She said this often, but more importantly proved it, time and time again that she would do anything for her children. In just eight short (maybe very long for her) years, her family grew to five children, and soon she had her own large boisterous house. Debra made it to every sporting event, award ceremony, school event, and still had a hot homemade dinner on the table at night. She also had a hidden talent of knowing and hearing everything her kids were up to, even when she wasn't looking.

By occupation, Debra was a bank manager where she enjoyed helping members of the community. Outside of work, she volunteered across the spectrum. From coaching basketball at La Salle Academy, teaching junior achievement, reading to children at libraries and schools, helping with church functions, etc.

Debra could not wait for grandchildren. She adored each and every one of them and spent as much time as possible with them. She enjoyed knitting, quilting and sewing treasures they will keep forever.

Debra spent her life enjoying the outdoors, spending much time with her family, grandchildren and friends, traveling and living life to its fullest. She has left a beautiful impression on all she knew and will be greatly missed.

Surviving are daughters, Christina Kingery and husband, Andrew, Scott Twp.; Elizabeth Olaf and husband, Mark, Lewisburg, Pa.; sons, Joseph and wife, Alyson, Madison Twp.; Brian and wife, Jennifer, Scott Twp.; and Matthew and wife, Robyn, Bozeman, Mont.; grandchildren, Jack, Samuel, Benjamin, William and Everly; sisters, LuAnn Sampson and husband, Dennis; Franc Sesson and husband, Mike; Marlo William and husband, Phil; brothers, Joseph and Vincent Trapani; sister-in-law, Audrey Ruane and husband, Joseph; and brother-in-law, Hank Carr and wife, Sheila; numerous, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be Monday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith Street, Dunmore.

Friends are asked to go directly to the church the morning of the funeral.

Inurnment, St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.

I wish to express my sincere sympathy to you and your beautiful family. My heart is broken since the loss of Emil (Junior) it is now a year and a half since he passed away. I find it difficult to attend viewings at Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home. Both Jr. & I thought so much of you Warren and Hank. May God give you and your family the graces to accept what we cannot change. I know our loved ones are in the loving arms of our Creator.. God Bless you !

I am a friend of Lisa Cobb and I met Deb a few times at weddings and showers. I know she was like a sister to Lisa and went through a very tough time. I wish to send my condolences to the entire Carr family. She will be missed.

Dear Warren and Family,

I was so saddened to hear about Debbie. I stopped to visit with you on Sunday, but ended up talking with your daughter. Her children are beautiful. You were busy in the backyard. Debbie was a very good person who loved everyone. She had great love for you, your family, and a lot of love for the grandchildren. Once again, I'm so sorry.

Through I only knew Debra from the bank, I just want to express my deep condolences to her family and say what a wonderful, smart, thoughtful and kind person she was. Many years ago, Debra went out of her way to help my sister understand her finances at a difficult time in her life. She had the ability to make my sister feel less frightened without embarrassing her. I am sure Debra performed that great service for many customers over the years. I hope her family can take some small comfort in knowing everyday how many lives she touched and made easier. You have my deepest sympathy.
