Daniel P. Zaccagnino, 79, of Dunmore, died Monday night at Geisinger Community Medical Center after being stricken ill at home. His beloved wife is the former Jean Del Guercio. The couple celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on Sept. 7.

Born in Dunmore, son of the late Donato and Theresa Coyer Zaccagnino, he was a graduate of Dunmore High School. He had formerly co-owned D & D Market in Dunmore and, before retirement, he was line superintendent for the Scranton Sewer Authority. He was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish and its Holy Name Society, Dunmore.

Danny was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and a wonderful friend who would give you the shirt off his back. 

Also surviving are a son, Paul and wife, Carol, Sterling; a daughter, Lisa, Dunmore; his grandson, who was his pride and joy, PJ Zaccagnino, Tyler, Texas; brother, Peter and wife, Lorraine, Baltimore; mother-in-law, Catherine Del Guercio, Scranton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, including Louise Zaccagnino, Fords, N.J.; nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by his beloved brother, Joseph Zaccagnino, on Nov. 25, 2016.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith Street, Dunmore. 

Friends may call Friday, 4 to 7 p.m. 

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Center, 2010 Adams Ave., Scranton, PA 18509.

Was so sorry to read about Dan, what a guy. Meet him when I started paling around with his brother Pete. Can only say, he was a nice guy and may he R.I.P.
