Charlotte Weisberger

Charlotte Weisberger

Scranton, PA July 24, 1928 ~ January 25, 2013 Date of Service: January 28, 2013

Charlotte Weisberger, 84, of Scranton, died on Friday. Charlotte was the beloved wife of the late Norman Weisberger.

She was the daughter of the late Jacob and Reva Hinerfeld Krieger. Charlotte spent 25 years serving as the public relations director of the Lackawanna Branch of the Pennsylvania Association for the Blind. During that time, she was heard on the radio, raising money and leading a volunteer program for vision screening across Northeast Pennsylvania. She was honored by the governor of Pennsylvania for her groundbreaking work. She also served as president of Hadassah and was on the board of Webster Towers.

Charlotte was a woman ahead of her time — a wonderful wife, mother and public figure. She was a presence with great style, wit and love. Charlotte will be held in the hearts of many.

She is survived by her daughter, Frances Powell and husband, Brian Powell; a son, Jed Weisberger and wife, Susan Weisberger; and grandchildren, Rebecca Eve Powell and Jay Weisberger and wife, Sarah.

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11:45 a.m. in Dalton Jewish Cemetery by Rabbi Joseph Mendelsohn. There is no local shiva.

Donations may be made to the Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania, 1101 Vine St., Scranton, PA 18510.

I am so sorry to learn of Charlotte's passing. What a wonderful woman! She was a delight to work with. I have so many fond memories of programs and interviews we did together. She was a woman ahead of her time and will be missed. Prayers to all in her family.

We regret that we are unablle to pay our respects at Dalton and are sorry for your loss. We remember many happy social occasions together in the past. Your Mom attended a party at our home & our teenage daughter asked, " who is that? She looks like a movie star!'. Her accomplishments & vivacious personality were very special., in additi;on to her beauty.
Blessiings to the family for the love & care you gave,
