Carmella M. Mecca, 94, of Dunmore, died Monday morning at the Jewish Home of Eastern PA after an illness.  She was the widow of the late Patsy Mecca.

Born in Dunmore, daughter of the late Michael and Lucy Frontuto DeMarco, she was a graduate of Dunmore High School and was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish and its Altar and Rosary Society, as well as being a member of the Hilltop Belles.  Prior to retirement, she was employed by Gold Star in Scranton.  

Carmella enjoyed going to the casino and spending time with her family and friends.  She was a loving daughter, sister, wife and aunt who will be forever missed. 

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the third floor staff at the Jewish Home.  They took Carmella into their hearts as their own family and cared for her with compassion and love.

Surviving is a niece, Renee Rinaldi, Dunmore; nephew, Paul Rinaldi, Jr. and wife Michelle, Dunmore; nephew Paul Rinaldi, Sr., Dunmore; nieces Amber Lyn Rinaldi and Olivia Rose Rinaldi, both of Dallas; family friend, Kay Zawisky, Scranton; and also other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 She was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, Gerald, Pompeo, and Nicholas DeMarco; and three sisters, Lena Bonafede, Mary DeMarco, and Rose Volonino; a nephew, Michael DeMarco; and a niece, Rose Marie Rinaldi.

The funeral will be Wednesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with mass at 9:30 a.m. in the St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St., Dunmore.  Interment to follow in the Mount Carmel Cemetery, Dunmore.

Friends may call Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m.
