Barbara Maiman, 72, Clarks Summit, died Friday morning in Allied Hospice in Scranton.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Sophie Likach Maiman. She was a graduate of both Scranton Central High School and Monmouth College having earned a degree in education. She was an active member of Temple Israel in Scranton and in Jewish women’s organizations.

Surviving are a brother, Earle Maiman and his wife Sharon, Cincinnati, Ohio and their sons, Eli and his wife Alex Talks, Cincinnati, OH, and Jesse Maiman, Los Angeles, CA.

The funeral will be Monday in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc. 318 East Drinker Street in Dunmore with services at 10:30AM by Cantor Vladimir Aronzon. Interment will follow in the Temple Israel Cemetery in Dunmore.

Friends may visit with the family at Elan Gardens, 465 Venard Road, Clarks Summit from 12pm-6pm Monday.

I was so sorry to learn about Barbara's passing. I still remember the good times we had in front of your house... doing our hula hoops and roller skating , because you had the biggest space with no trees as the Maimans had the most modern house on the block!
Please know that Barbara was very special in her quiet and kind demeanor and her memory will definitely be a Blessing!

I remember Barbara from our days at Scranton Central High School. So many years ago but her smile and pleasant demeanor , I’ll always remember. I am sorry for your loss.
