Anthony J. Cerra, 90, Dunmore, died Friday morning in the Moses Taylor Hospital. His widow is the former Helen Kulesa.


Born in Italy, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Angeline Christiano Cerra. He attended Dunmore Public Schools and was a graduate of Dunmore High School. Prior to retirement in 1976, he was employed at Trane Co. in Dunmore. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, a member of the American Legion Post #13 in Dunmore, a Life member of the former Eclipse Hose Co. #6 in Dunmore.


Also surviving are two sons, James D. Cerra and his wife Jean, Coplay, PA, and Anthony P. Cerra and his wife Ann Marie, South Abington Twp., a daughter, Linda Padula and her husband Frank, Mt. Cobb, two sisters, Ann DePietro, Philadelphia, and Jennie Coar, Dunmore, a brother, Retired Major James Cerra, Pass Christian, Mississippi, nieces, nephews, seven grandchildren, two great granddaughters.


He was preceded in death by two brothers, Salvatore and Domnick Cerra.


The funeral will be Tuesday at 11am in the St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut Street in Dunmore. Those attending the funeral are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will follow in the Dunmore Cemetery.

The loss of a father,husband and brother is heartbreaking. I am sorry I cannot relay in person but you all are in my thoughts. Find peace in your memories.

So Sorry to read that you Dad has now passed.I just spent the last few days going through the same experience as my Mom passed on Sunday. Despite the fact that our parents were able to live a nice long life, the end is still too final. Best wishes and prayers to you and your family.
