Anne Notarianni Penetar, Dunmore, passed away early Friday morning at her home peacefully and gracefully as she lived her life, surrounded by her loving family. She was married to the late Judge Daniel L. Penetar for more than 50 years.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Bruno and Letizia Caravia Notarianni. Anne graduated from Scranton Central High School and Keystone College where she played basketball and field hockey and was named Female Athlete of her class.

Prior to raising her children as a stay at home mother, she was office manager for Joseph Notarianni & Co., a family business. She was also very active in the community participating in the following organizations: Lackawanna Lawyers Wives as an officer and charter member, St. Joseph’s Center as a lifetime member and officer, Lackawanna Blind Association as a lifetime member and treasurer, Catholic Social Services as a board member, St. Francis Kitchen, Little Sisters of the Poor, Scranton Prep Mother’s Club and LaFesta Italiana.

A woman of faith, she was a daily communicant at St. Clare’s Church and never missed a St. Ann’s Novena. She loved to travel the world with her husband and especially enjoyed vacationing with her entire family at the Jersey Shore and in Paradise Island. She loved playing pinochle with her family and crossword puzzles.

Family was most important to Anne. She supported her husband’s work and political career. Her spirit will continue to live on in her children Daniel Jr. and his wife Michele, Lawrence and his wife Carol, and Martin and his wife Barbara, and her grandchildren, Cristina, Teresa, Edward, Daniel III, Julianna, Elisa, and Christopher.

She was preceded in death by her four siblings.
