Ann H. Russell

Ann H. Russell

Dunmore, PA February 12, 1950 ~ April 4, 2018 Date of Service: April 9, 2018

Ann H. Russell, 68, a resident of Scranton Manor, died Wednesday in the Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit in Dunmore.

Born in Scranton, she was a graduate of Dunmore High School and a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish.  At the age of 17, she applied for work at Fidelity Bank but had to wait until after graduation to start, and remained there until her retirement.  Her dream was to be a clothing designer but never had the opportunity to go to school, so she instead drew outfits and made dress cutouts for paper dolls.  She and her niece Mary Ann, who many thought was her daughter, spent much time together in activities from joining a bowling league, shopping, going out to eat, making ceramics, and playing board games like Clue and Monopoly.  Ann also enjoyed going to the casino and taking overnight trips with her mom and niece.  A lover of music, she enjoyed soft jazz and Broadway, and loved to go see shows at the Theatre League in Scranton and in New York City.

Surviving is her sister, Mary Fuller and husband Richard; and niece and godchild, Mary Ann Guziewicz and husband John, all of Dunmore.

The funeral will be Monday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in the St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St., Dunmore.  Interment, St. Michael’s Cemetery, Dunmore.

Friends may call Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
