Ann Ellen Moffitt, 77, a native of Scranton and a resident of Baton Rouge, La., since 1972, passed away Sunday, Aug. 27, at Oschner Medical Center in Slidell, La.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late John Vincent and Mae Coleman Moffitt, she was a graduate of the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Scranton, and served in the Air Force as a nurse. She later attended the St. John Hospital School of Anesthesia in Springfield, Ill., and earned her degree as a licensed CRNA. She began working for Anesthesiology Group Associates upon arriving in Baton Rouge. Ann loved her work and was known for her skill and compassion for her patients. Through the years, though not recently, Ann always enjoyed a good game of golf with friends. Her greatest love was always her constant companions of puppies that she cared for deeply.
She is survived by her brother, John G. Moffitt and wife, Helen, of Dunmore; nieces and nephews, Joseph Moffitt and wife, Jennifer, of Dunmore; attorney Mary Moffitt Boyko and husband, Steven, of Minooka; John D. Moffitt, of Dunmore; Kevin Moffitt and wife, Patty; Michael Moffitt and wife, Tina; Judy Matis and husband, Karl; and John Moffitt and wife, Glenda, all of the Atlanta, Ga., area; Carl Ruland and wife, Jeanne; John Ruland and wife, Elizabeth; and Greg Ruland, all of the Baltimore area; several great-nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Ann Ashbaugh, of Baton Rouge.
The family wishes to extend many thanks to her friend and neighbor, Sam Higdon.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Sam Moffitt; and sister, Mary Moffitt Ruland Baker.
The funeral will be Tuesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith Street, Dunmore. Interment with military honors to follow in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
