Ann Catherine Dow Cole passed away peacefully Wednesday at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore, with her family by her side after a 4 year battle with Breast Cancer. Ann was 52 years old. She fought harder than anyone can imagine against this insidious disease with a great attitude and tremendous dignity.
Ann was born in Kearny, NJ and was the daughter of Florence (Hawkins) Dow and the late William Dow Sr. Ann grew up in Kearny, NJ and she moved to Pennsylvania in 1993.
She was a graduate of Kearny High School, Kearny, NJ and Catherine Gibbs Business School. She also attended Rutgers University where she met her husband George M. Cole III almost 33 years ago. They recently celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary.
Ann was a long time employee at TMG Healthcare in Jessup where she worked as a Quality Control Specialist. She was a member of St. Mary’s of Mt. Carmel in Dunmore where she was a Eucharistic minister which she loved very much.
Ann was a loving kind hearted soul that always put others before herself. She was a dedicated wife, mother, daughter and sister. She enjoyed watching her children play sports and never missed a game. She was an avid Dunmore Bucks fan. She was most proud of her children Ryan, Jennifer, James and George IV and loved spending as much time with them as possible.
Surviving are her husband George III, Daughter Jennifer, Sons Ryan, James and George IV all at home. And her beloved dog Marino whom she nicknamed Supervisor since he followed her everywhere she went. Also surviving are her mother Florence (Hawkins) Dow, Kearny, NJ, brother William Dow Jr and wife Ann (Chapman) Dow, Kearny, NJ, mother in law, Janet Cam, Trinity, FL, sisters in law Kelly Burnett and husband Ponda, Lutz, FL, Cheryl Elshaer and husband Ramy, Trinity, FL, Jamie Schwantes an husband Travis, Las Vegas, NV.
She will be missed by many relatives and friends.
The family would also like to thank family and the many friends that have provided so much love and support especially Ann’s Army, All for a Cause, The Kearny, NJ Elks and to all those that supported those causes. The family would like to thank the entire Dunmore community and surrounding areas for all their support and compassion. Last but not least the family would like to thank the staff at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore and in particular Shelly Powell and Missy Smith for the wonderful care and compassion they provided. They are truly angels of mercy and very special people.
The funeral will be Wednesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc. 318 East Drinker Street in Dunmore with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30AM in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut Street in Dunmore. Cremation to follow.
