Allen B. Strong, 66, Dunmore, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon in Pocono Medical Center in East Stoudsburg. He and his wife the former Elaine Lameo had celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary on October 5th.

Born in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late Victor and Alfreda Gizlowski Strong. He served honorably as a Corporal in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War. Allen had earned an Associate’s Degree in Science from Triton College. He retired from Allied Automotive as a Car Hauler and currently was working as a limousine driver with Best Value at the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Airport. He was a retired member of Teamster Local 449, as well as a member of the V.F.W. McHugh-Bushweller Post #3474 in Dunmore.

Allen loved his dogs, especially Abby, he was an outdoorsman, enjoyed cruises and working in his garden. He was well known for cooking on the grill especially chicken. Most of all Allen was happiest when he was behind the wheel.

Also surviving are a son, Robert Woytach and his wife Jennifer, Dunmore, five daughters, Jennifer Tufano and her husband Neil, South Canaan, Amanda, Erin, and Sarah Strong, all of Chicago, and Rebecca Strong, Forestville, NY, four grandchildren, Anthony Woytach, Dunmore, and Jennika, Isabelle, and Genevieve Tufano, all of South Canaan, a sister, Diane Perez and her husband Pete, Ft. Myers, FL, and his best friend Larry Bartkowiak, Buffalo, NY.

A funeral with full military honors will be held Saturday at 9:30am in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc. 318 East Drinker Street in Dunmore with services by Rev. Ronald Miller.

Friends may call Friday from 5pm-8pm.

Sorry to hear of Al's passing. He was a great man with a wonderful since of humor. It seems like only yesterday I watched you both exchange your wedding vows. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Mikey
