Mildred B. Crispino, 72, of Vestal, New York and Scranton, PA passed away peacefully at her Vestal home on Saturday, May 19th after a long battle with cancer. Mildred was born on March 12, 1940 the youngest child of Mildred Granito Mumfreda, Dunmore, and the late Donato Mumfreda, she grew up in Scranton, PA and graduated in 1958 from Scranton Technical High School.
Mildred was married to Nicholas F. Crispino on August 4, 1962. They were married for 49 years. Her most cherished job was raising their 5 children and helping to raise their 11 grandchildren which she enjoyed.
In addition to her loving husband and mother , five children and three daughters-in-law: daughter Lisa Crispino of Vestal, NY; son Frank and Patty Crispino of Chandler, AZ; son Anthony and Melissa Crispino of Moorseville, NC; son Nicholas C. and Kristen Crispino of Clermont, FL; and daughter Mary Crispino of Vestal, NY. She is also survived by her eleven Crispino grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Matthew, Sami, Ashley, Carly, Elizabeth, Amanda, Will, Corey, Michael, Dominick, and Emma. Mildred is also survived by her sister Helen Moffitt and brother-in-law John Moffitt of Dunmore, PA and brother John (Jay) Mumfreda of Scranton, PA.
Mildred enjoyed organizing and setting up many parties, vacations, and dinner trips for family and friends, which will be missed by all. She was also a long time member of The Beta Sigma Phi sorority.
The family of Mildred Crispino wishes to thank the many friends, Lourdes Home Health and Hospice personnel who provided comfort and care in her last few weeks.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the St. Anthony of Padua Church, 303 Smith St., Dunmore, PA 18512. Interment will be at St Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, PA following the mass. Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, PA 18512, and Friday morning from 8:15 a.m. until 9 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Ave., New York, NY 10065; or The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke, Duke University Medical Center, Box 3624, Durham, NC 27710, in care of her name.
