Yolanda R. Alloy, R.N.Dunmore, PA September 28, 1920 ~ June 4, 2011 Date of Service: June 7, 2011
Yolanda R. Alloy, 90, of Dunmore died on Saturday at the Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania, where she had been for the past month. Yolanda was the widow of Pasquale Alloy, who died on March 31, 1997. Yolanda and Pat were married in 1946 and shared a wonderful life of 51 years together.
Born in Old Forge, the daughter of Francesco and Rosa (nee Notari) Rosati, Yolanda graduated from Old Forge High School in 1938 and received her RN from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. She started her career working for the Visiting Nurse Association and afterwards continued doing private duty nursing in the Scranton area.
Yolanda was blessed with a wonderful family life; she is survived by her sister Mary Sena of Scranton and was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Baldrica, brother, Charles Rosati and granddaughter, Kara Martarano.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had four children, James and his wife Bonnie of Katonah, NY, Ann Marie Martarano and her husband Louis of Lebanon, PA, Rosemary Earley and her husband Jack of Dunmore and Thomas and his wife Evaline Alessandrini of Cincinnati, OH; ten grandchildren, Katelyn and Leah Alloy, Laura and Kristi Martarano, Amy and Molly Earley, Jacqueline (nee Earley) Robinson, Toni Rose, Alex and Michael Alloy; and four wonderful great-grand children, Riley and Thomas Robinson, Angelo Martarano and Lucia Schera.
In addition to her family, Yolanda had a wealth of friends. She was active in many groups and organizations in Dunmore and Scranton including: St. Anthony’s Altar and Rosary Society in Dunmore, the Theresians in Scranton, Mercy Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae, and the AARP Golf League. Yolanda’s social clubs in Dunmore included: the Weekly Eight, the Dante Club, the Bucktown Club and the Mangia Club.
The funeral will be Tuesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with mass at 9:30am in the St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith Street, Dunmore. Entombment Cathedral Cemetery. Friends may call today at the funeral home from 4 – 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions can be made to Telespond Services Services, 1200 Saginaw Street, Scranton 18505 where Yolanda was a guest for the past two years. In addition, the family would like to thank the staff of the Jewish Home for the wonderful care they gave to Yolanda over the past month.
