Michael S. Yurchak, 80, of Dunmore, died Wednesday in the Intensive Care Unit at Regional Hospital of Scranton after a brief illness.
Born in Dunmore, he was the son of the late George and Julia Dolinich Yurchak and he attended the Dunmore Public Schools. He was a United States Army Veteran who served in the 109th Infantry in Germany during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Mercury Freight and Pyne Freight Line as a truck driver.
He was a member of the American Legion, the National Rifle Men’s Association and the Teamsters Union Local 229. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting and in his later years, enjoyed going for walks. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Surviving are sisters; Irene Palmitessa,Scranton, Susann Yurchak and Doris Boise, both of Dunmore. Brothers; George Yurchak, Clarks Summit and Stephen Yurchak and wife Barbara, Reinzi, Mississippi.
Several nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by sisters; Mary Yurchak and Nancy Jennings and brothers; Alex, Nicholas and Robert.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore with Mass at 9:30a.m. in St. Rocco’s Church, Corner of Luke Ave. and Kurtz Ave., Dunmore.
Interment, Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Dunmore
