Helen T. Finnerty Toomey, 95, of Dunmore, died Wednesday in the Northeast Pa. Hospice at the Regional Hospital of Scranton. She was the widow of John Toomey, who died in 1962.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Durkin Finnerty. She was a member of St. Peter's Cathedral and a former member of Christ the King Church, Dunmore, its Men\'s and Women's Society and had served on its church picnic committee for many years. Before her retirement, she was employed by Eureka Printing Co.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed trips to the Atlantic City casinos and quilting.

Surviving are three daughters, Patricia Marichak, Dunmore; Regina Maciejewski and husband, Robert, Massillon, Ohio; and Ann Tomachick, Dunmore; four grandchildren, Maribeth Ehnot and husband, John, Dunmore; Joseph Marichak and wife, Debbie, Dunmore; Michele Maciejewski, Wadsworth, Ohio; and Mark Maciejewski and wife, Shannon, Florence, Ky.; and five great-grandchildren, Jordyn and Jaclyn Marichak and Anna, Connor and Megan Maciejewski.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Joseph Toomey; two sisters, Mary Finnerty and Marguerite Davis; and three brothers, Joseph, John and Paul Finnerty.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9 a.m. in St. Peter's Cathedral, Scranton.

Interment, St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.

Friends may call Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.

I will always have fond memories of Helen. She was a great lady.

I am very sorry for your loss. As I worked with Helen for many years and also knew her on a personal level through Rose Teel, I feel a loss myself. Try to remember all those years you had her here for you. She lived a long, good life. I hope you can find some comfort in that. God Bless you all!
