Rhea V. Honig Franklin, 50, of Scranton, died at home on Sunday morning after being stricken ill. She and her husband, William P. Franklin celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary on on June 4th.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late John and Irene Cohen Honig, she was a graduate of Scranton Central High School Class of 1979 and went on to graduate from Centenary College in Hackettstown, NJ. She had resided in Florida for thirteen years before returning to Scranton. Prior to her illness, she had been employed in the medical field as well as in interior design in both Scranton and Florida. She was an avid animal lover and enjoyed her time spent in Florida, especially its beaches and sunsets.
Also surviving are nephews Bryan and Justin Jones; a brother-in-law Don Jones, Clarks Green; mother-in-law Madelyn Franklin, S. Abington Twp.; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by a sister Sandy Jones and a brother Barry Honig.
The family will receive friends today from 3-5 p.m. in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore.
