Bertha M. Fitzpatrick, 92, of Dunmore, died Sunday in Community Medical Center, Scranton. Her husband, Alfred Fitzpatrick died in 1986.

Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Domenick and Mary Carlucci Mecca and was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, Dunmore. Before retirement, she had worked in the local garment industry.

The family would like to thank Dr. Salvatore Lawrence, Dr. Ferdinand Manahan and DaVita Dialysis in Dunmore for all the love and support shown to Bertha over the years. The family also wishes to thank her part time caregiver, Patrice Gonzalez and all the doctors, nurses and staff at the Community Medical Center.

Surviving is her daughter and primary caregiver, Esther Fitzpatrick, Dunmore; two sisters, Grace Mecca and Carmel Novak and her husband Robert, all of  Dunmore; three nieces, Mary Ann Yausm and her husband Robert, Carmel Lalli and her husband Joseph, and Mary Hurst and her husband Jerry, all of  Dunmore; numerous great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews; a stepson, Alfred Fitzpatrick, Chicago. She was preceded in death by brothers Angelo “Al” Mecca and Leonard “Dick” Mecca, and two sisters, Catherine Seip and Rose Caruso and a stepson, Eugene Fitzpatrick.

The funeral will be Thursday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore with mass at 9:30a.m. in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut St., Dunmore.

Interment, St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow

Friends may call Wednesday from 4-7p.m.

Esther, so very sorry to learn of this, but I know you have the deep peace from knowing you were there for her all these years, and you can rest easy in that knowledge forever. I still have no internet connection at my house, so I will write you a real letter soon. Much love, Maria

i am so sorry to see that Bertha has passed away.
Bertha was my mother (Rose Mecca Depolio's) maid of honor . ........My Aunt Mary Labelle told me of Bertha's passing yesterday., thursday, Too late for paying respects at the funeral home....... I didn;t know Bertha's last name..........I send my sincere condolences to Bertha's family and her sisters. Please relay this heartfelt message to them. thank you
