Nancy J. Gilmartin, 69, a resident of Lackawanna Health and Rehab and formerly of Dunmore, died Tuesday September 13th.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Alice Crane Gilmartin. Nancy was a graduate of both Dunmore High School Class of 1959 and Marywood College where she earned her teaching certificate. Prior to retirement she had worked as both a teacher in the Dunmore School District and as Licensed Practical Nurse. Nancy’s love of animals and affection for reading are what she will be remembered for most.

Surviving are two sisters, Alice Gilligan and her husband Maurice, Springfield, MA and Jeannie Donahoe and her husband Jeffery, Scranton, four nieces, Megan Barrett and her husband Michael, Clarks Summit, Samantha Donahoe, Scranton, Christan Montagna and her husband Frank, Agawam, MA, Jean Achatz and her husband Harry, Long Meadown , MA, three nephews, Jeff Donahoe and his wife Michelle, Lake Ariel, Tim Donahoe and his wife Rachel, Dunmore, and Edward Gilligan, Springfield, MA and fourteen great nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 11am in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut Street in Dunmore. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter 967 Griffin Pond Rd. South Abington Township, PA 18411.

Dear Family Members: My heartfelt sympathy, love and prayers on Nancy's passing. She was so lovely a lady. She will be missed, but is now in Heaven with your beloved parents. May God grant you added strength and peace.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Nancy. I graduated from Marywood Seminary with herS. She was the sweetest and most caring girl. I will remember her in my prayers.
